Asset inspection for BIM projects

Inspected as it's built.

WhatsBuilt turns your IFC model into an asset register for the site. Scan the label on an element, work through its checks, and the record stays with the right element. Online or not.

01  Upload the model

Every element becomes an asset.

Upload an IFC file. Every physical element lands in the register with its GlobalId, IFC class, type and storey, straight from the model. Nothing is typed in by hand.

02  Label every asset

A label any phone can read.

Print QR labels straight from the register. They follow GS1 Digital Link, so any phone camera can scan them, and with your GS1 company prefix each one carries a permanent GIAI.

03  Inspect on site

Every step, on the phone.

Scan the label and the checks for that element type are ready. Mark each step passed or failed and add photos. Results are saved without signal and sync when you're back in range.

04  Hand over the evidence

Evidence your BIM tools can read.

Every inspection step is recorded as a timestamped BCF 3.0 topic. Open them in any BCF-compliant tool, or export the register and its inspections as CSV.

The whole inspection, in the field.

No paper and no laptop. This is how one element gets inspected, from the label on the wall to the record in the register.

Built on standards, not lock-in.

Your model, your labels and your inspection records stay in open formats the rest of the industry already reads.

Model

IFC4

Every physical element is imported with its GlobalId, IFC class, type and storey. Nothing is retyped, nothing is guessed.

Inspection records

BCF 3.0

Every inspection step becomes a topic under the buildingSMART standard, available through the BCF REST API and exported as BCF XML.

Identity

GS1 Digital Link

With your GS1 company prefix, labels carry a GIAI and resolve at qr.whatsbuilt.fi/8004/…, so every system that reads GS1 sees the same identifier.

Field

Offline first

Download the project before you go on site. Labels, checklists, results and comments stay in a database on the phone until there is signal again. Then it syncs.

The questions we get on site.

Inspection tools let you down in three places: the seventh floor, the coordination meeting and the handover. Here is how WhatsBuilt handles each.

“There’s no signal on the seventh floor.”

There doesn’t need to be. Download the project before you head up, and the labels and checklists are on the phone. Results and comments wait there and sync when you’re back in range. Nothing is lost and nothing is entered twice.

“We already coordinate in BIM tools.”

Good. WhatsBuilt speaks BCF 3.0, so every inspection result opens as a topic in any BCF-compliant tool. The site and the model stay in one conversation.

“What happens after handover?”

The label stays on the element and keeps pointing to it. The register and every inspection record export as CSV and BCF, so the evidence leaves with the building instead of staying locked in our system.
